To Jason from Jakub

Hello everyone my name is Jakub and I have known Jason for 9 years.
What is it that you all remember when you think of Jason? I think everyone who knows him very well would agree that it was his style of adventure, his eagerness and willingness to help, his drive for success, his love for animals and an ice cold beer.

I met Jason on my first day at gym class in college.  Right off the bat I knew he was a good person.  We joked, we laughed, we shared the same interests and a friendship was born.  He was a very loyal, kind friend.  I could trust him with anything and could always count on his opinions.

As a matter of fact he was my personal relationship counselor in college. No matter how much I thought a girl was right for me he always told me I needed to end it.  I didn’t always take his advice even though he was right 100 percent of the time.  Whether we were sitting at the house or going somewhere we always had a good time.  Jason eventually introduced me to terrain biking in Ocala.  I’ll never forget the day we went to this place called big balls. There was a huge drop and he dared me to roll off it…which I successfully did. Since I did it he was gonna do it too.  Before he took off he told me to watch how a pro does it.  Needless to say he went head over the handle bars….the look on his face was priceless. Even though Jason and Chai always beat me in the trails I always looked forward to biking with him on days off.  Sometimes after it rained we would take the blue bronco out to the woods to go mudding.  To this day I still think that beast ran on water because I never saw Jason change the oil in it.   If it broke down he knew how to fix it.

Some nights we would play countless hours of Halo on XBOX.  I think those were Nikis favorite nights.  Jason also taught me everything I know about nutrition, exercise as well as offered motivation when I needed it.

I remember the day when Jason told me he was gonna join the ARMY.  His heart was set on becoming a Ranger.  His dedication to his training was unreal.  It didn’t matter if he plowed through a case of beer he would get up in the morning and go jogging while the rest of us were hugging toilets.  As time went on we matured, moved to different cities and we was off to the army.  I missed him.

One day I got a call from Jason telling me that he and Niki were getting married.  This was the first wedding I have been too not to mention I had the great honor and privilege of being the best man.  Those of you that were there saw how amazing it was.  You may have also seen the heavily intoxicated date I was with that caused a huge scene and almost got arrested.  I should have listened to Jason about her.  Needless to say he told me that was the happiest day in his life.  I really wanted him to be the best man at my wedding.

Even though I didn’t see Jason often I always thought about him.  When we did exchange emails I was just glad to hear he was doing well.  He loved his job and always had something smart to say.  I never thought that it would end like this.

Jason, you have been and will always be my best friend.  I will forever be grateful for sharing 9 years of my life with you. All the memories I have will forever be cherished and remembered.  Jason you will forever live in my heart…In our hearts.

Let me remind everyone that this is not the time for us to grieve his death but it’s our time to celebrate his life.  He never wanted to see people cry. He wanted to make everyone happy. Let’s all think back and remember how Jason touched our lives. How he made us laugh and how good Jason was as a person.  All be thankful that we were given the chance to have known the man named Jason Dahlke.  I love you bro and you will be missed.
